"IM A BIG GIRL IM JUS SAYIN' WE COULD HAVE BEEN GOOD TOGETHER... DAMN"

- Vivian Green

That song hits it on the nail sometimes. Sometimes u start thinking about past relationships and how somehow things went wrong and one thing just ruined it all. And after its all over and tears have dried and years have passed you see his picture and just think ... "we could have been good together, damn!"

THE "OREO"

Aint nuthin worse than a black man/woman who wants to so badly be something that they are not.

That falls right in line with the uppity negro who forgot where he/she came from and who he/she is!

You see, we fail to remember that this country is run by people who are NOT of color and could care less about people like YOU!

Be successful, but remember who you are! Never get to high and mighty to remember those people who look just like you!

BORN THAT WAY OR CHOSE THAT WAY?

What a contrevsial topic. No, I do not accept the lifestyle but I do accept the people. But this is not what I really am getting at here. What I really wanted to talk about is whether or not homosexuality is in fact a choice or is it innate?

I've talked to a couple and they all say the same thing. "Do you think I would CHOOSE to be gay?"

Although for the most part the question is rhetorical, I'd have to say no.

Why someone would choose to be an outcast and the object of ridicule is beyond me. However, I find it hard to believe that someone could possibly just be "BORN" that way.

Im gonna go get spiritual now. My personal belief is that homosexuality could possibly be the result of some kind of generational curse or by some kind of demon. Yes, I believe in demons. I fight my own everyday. However, another part of me believes that it is a choice. I know a couple of people who choose to take part in homosexual activity just b/c they "like it." But thats my take on it.
I've had this discussion with my brother and he seems to think it has to do with something in the chromosomes or something that makes the inner core of the child (their mind) all mixed up with their gender or something like that. I really don't know. But I'd really love to hear some opinions on the situation.

I'd like some light to be further shed on the topic.

THE GOD QUESTION

We all talk about it at one point or another in our lives.

Either u believe or u dont.

As for me, there is no doubt in my mind that there is a God. If u look outside ur window u should automatically know that something greater than u and I exist. The world around us functions with such accuracy and precision its impossible that something on this great a scale just "happened". The world is like a huge clock... but there had to have been a "clock maker"... do u see where im trying to go here???

Anyways, what I really want is a RELATIONSHIP with GOD. Forget all of the extensive religious tradition (u cant do this, u cant wear this, etc) ... The Creator and His written word= all I need to know. Whatever is wrong with me, HE will show and convict me and I will know it in my spirit and then it will be up to me to either follow or not. Then HE will judge me. We get too caught up in judging others and coming up with all of these rituals and traditions and things that probably don't mean too much to God. What I believe he really wants from us is a RELATIONSHIP. At least that is what is most important to me. No, I have no crossed every "t" and dotted every "i" but as soon as I'm ready to give up all of the things He wants me to I'll get there... in Him.
I grew up in the church and live under the roof of a pastor so I was taught these things but now that Im older Im learning everyday that I just KNOW that I KNOW for sure. God shows himself to me in many ways but I want to hear from you guys out there...
I really would like to hear your opinions and thoughts ... please feel free to leave a comment here. U do not have to have a blogger account to do so. It would really mean alot to me. Im very curious.

SOLEDOUT NYC III... WACK!!

[ For those of you who don't know what Soledout is... it is a sneaker expo/trading event. ]

Please do not be deceived by the photos. Sure we look ultra happy and excited. That's only b/c we enjoy each others company. I really didn't want to go after the disappointment of the last one however, my pal Brent (Art head who customizes kicks. He's nasty www.myspace.com/brenty2nyce) needed some company so I came thru. Anyhoot... not only was there nothing there for ME to purchase but there were lots of ugly in the faces in the vicinity. And on TOP of all of that, no one was really buying anything. Lots of window shoppers.
I applaud the creators of this event for milking us for 10 dollars and getting people's money to set up display tables. It would be a wonderful event if the people that came there weren't so ridiculously CORNY and broke! Majority of them came to show of their dino jrs (btw... those are corny now and way played out)
Oh well...

Lauryn Hill @ MLK Series Concert

"Lauryn Hill arrived more than two hours late and performed an uneven if not memorable set on Monday night at Brooklyn, New York's Wingate Field as part of the free Martin Luther King Jr. Concert Series. The enigmatic singer, overdressed for a hot summer night, showed up at 10 p.m. for the scheduled 7:30 show and ran through a number of her more popular solo and Fugees hits — but often reconfigured them into unrecognizable scat chants. Hill told the audience her sometimes-inaudible voice was hoarse, but her tone improved as she continued. Hill closed the show with her Grammy-winning "Doo Wop (That Thing)" and then immediately exited after thanking the 10,000-plus people who showed up for the park jam. ... "

Lets hear it first hand from someone who too was there... ME! She looked crazy as hell. (View photo for reference) It was 1000 degrees and she decided to drape a cow across her back and addition to a long sleeved blouse. Brilliant! After showing up extremely late I was ready to toss a shoe at the stage ... and then she began to sing and I fell in love with her all over again. Yes, the show and performance was a bit... different. I will admit that. She did a number of scatting and hit song re-vamps... turning slow songs into upbeat rock tunes and things of that nature. It didnt bother me as much as it bothered other people. Alot of people arent fans of scatting and things like that so it was understandable that some of her fans got up and left. However, hoarse or not, her voice was beautiful! She sang "ex-factor" and I wanted to melt in my undies. Crazy or not, she remains one of my top favorite artists of all time.

P.G. County by Connie Briscoe

Due to excessive BOREDOM at my job today, I read this novel in one shot. It was a pretty good story line. The story of the lives of 4 different women living in prominient areas of P.G. County (Some wealthier than others). Lots of lies, scandals, adultery, and drama. The book was entertaining and suspensful for the most part. As it concluded you kind of wished something ELSE was happening. It ended a little dryly, if u will. I thought it could have ended ALOT differently. Hell, I had some ideas in mind. Nonetheless it was a fun book to read to pass the time.
Side Note***
Why is it that every SINGLE novel I've read the author is the "bestselling?" Im sure they can't ALL be in that category. Somebody is lying!

AND I THOUGHT MY LIP GLOSS WAS POPPIN' LOL

The Fall Heard 'Round the World

So, as we all know by now, Beyonce' took a nice great fall at a concert in Florida while performing her not so much of a hit single "Ring the Alarm." I heard the story of how she fell face first after tripping on her lengthy "Matrix" styled trench coach but ain't nothing like seeing it for yourself. So I googled it, most videos were taken down at the artists' request. However, I did come across a few that were still up and running. When I saw that fall I immediately began to laugh uncontrollably. I don't know if I laughed that hard because she fell but I think Michelle's fall on 106 & Park had a little something to do with it. Now, I'm just waiting for Kelly to fall into a pit of some sort during a Destiny's Child "Survivor" Camping Retreat.

Have you ever met someone who had all of the world’s possibilities lying right at arms length but wouldn’t take hold of them? Have you ever met somebody who wanted some things so bad but never chased the desires of her heart because of fear? Have you ever met someone so afraid to try and succeed? That person is me.

I’m petrified of the future so I cling to the presence and marvel at the past. Things were simple back then. Things weren’t so complicated. It was a time when good things just came to me. Now that I’m older, things aren’t always handed to me. I have to go get them.

My fear is not that I am insufficient but that my sufficiency is far beyond my expectations. It’s quite oxymoronic I think.

I’d also like to just say that I am highly favored by the Lord b/c I’ve gotten so far in my life at such a young age and not because I deserved it all of the time. I didn’t have to work so hard to get to where I am now. Everything was easy for me and I thank GOD for His unmerited favor upon my life.

Anyway, I guess its time for me to gain some confidence and get in the game and stop watching everyone else play.

PHOTOS by me

There is nothing particularly special about the majority of the photos I take. I take random photos day to day of things I just would like to visually remember and I'd like to share some of them. I didn't bother tagging my name on any of them b/c I just don't think its necessary. Enjoy :)

This photo was taken in the darkroom at my school. The photo inside was one of my favorites. It was of a bruised and battered girl... below are two pictures of the make up I did to make her eye look black. It looked so much hotter in print! Unfortunately I lost alot of my print photography which is alot more fun to do. Sooooo. I'll make up for it.

This photo below is a picture OF a picture I did for a photography class. Ummm, this was a print photography blk/white class. I liked it.

GROW UP!

Wat the hell is wrong with people? I've been nothing but nice to everyone and I always seem to get the short end of the stick. Straight disrespect. I've been talked about, lied to, and everything else in the book and managed to let it slide. There's going to come a time when the grace period ends and I get really ugly! (figuratively speaking)

Are people just bored and wanna be in sumthn?I swear it seems like people wake up looking for something negative to get into. Lets see... Im a year away from graduating from college and my peers act worst than high school students. I never even went through any of this crap in High School. GROW UP! I don't have time for all of that he say she say, lying to cover my tail, soap opera drama.

And it seems to me that people also cant seem to think for themselves. Definitely not the kind of people I need to be around. I like my friends to have opinions.... their OWN! There's nothing worst than a lukewarm person. Dont know if they're hot or cold.

So basically, here's the verdict... Im not dealing with this nonsense post Summer 2007. Im just not. If you act greasy, I just wont speak to you. Liars are automatically deaded. All that gossip... save it for someone else. Its just never that serious for me to keep all that negativity around me and be involved in CRAP. Its not necessary nor is it wise.

So a guy recently asked me this... "So what do u look for in a guy?"
I said... "A whole lot!"

Someone (usually someone who aint even tryna get with me) always asks me this question. I guess they all wonder why Im always single. Well, for one, IM PICKY PICKY PICKY; 2, Im not a good girlfriend. I guess I learn how to be one later in life. Don't get me wrong, Im a GREAT girl, but I just know how to be a "lover," if u will. Not yet at least; 3, too busy and need to focus all my attention on keeping money in the bank and knowlege in my head.

But back to basics... what I look for in a guy! Well okay... I guess I'll just list some of the qualities of my "perfect guy"

  1. Taller than me. (that would be lovely)
  2. Well kept. (Low neat cut ::ceasars only... no fades n stuff:: or neat braids. Either is fine)
  3. Sneaker Head. A guy in great sneakers is always sexy PLUS PLUS PLUS
  4. Not too flashy! I hate big chains, big watches, ed hardy, rhinestones, etc. Just iron your clothes and make sure they fit!
  5. Humorous. (If he can make me laugh he's good money)
  6. Spiritual. (Please know and like Jesus. Im not asking for a preacher here but at least LIKE Him)
  7. Intelligent. (There is nothing more I hate more than a man who cant talk to me about nething else except girls, sex, and money... beat it! A good mind is a turn on)
  8. Honest. (Do I even have to say anything? If Im not pleasing you, please leave me and just be with her. To do it behind my back will only result in two funerals and I'll still be here to tell the story)
  9. Respectful. (Disrespectful men are the worst! And God forbid he puts his hands on me in a way I DONT like! hmmmph!... we ain't going there)
  10. A License (I dont have one right now and aint no subway comin to LI. I mean its not a necessity but that would be nice)
  11. Talent!!!! (A singer, A dancer, A poet, A photographer, A muscian... SOMETHING!)

Now I dont go walking around with a list handing them out tryna find prince charming cuz I know the ONE may not posess all of these qualities but dammit he's got 10 of 11. lol.

How well do YOU match up?

Didnt meet the mark huh? lol

Am I too demanding? Honestly!.... Yeah, I dont think so either lol.
